Top climate scientist: Emissions control trims costs

DURBAN, South Africa — The economic benefits of carbon emissions containment will more than offset a projected 0.12 percent per year negative effect on economic growth, United Nations’ top climate scientists said today.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change chief Rajendra Pachauri listed numerous potential climate change disasters looming if action is not taken to trim greenhouse gas emissions.

He spoke a at a UN conference in the South African capital of Durban.
